Golden Hill Turquoise is the only known turquoise with this naturally occurring lavender-blue color. Combined with its warm brown matrix, every stone is completely unique.

I was drawn to Golden Hill because of its character. No two stones are ever alike. Some have bold, dramatic matrix, while others have soft, delicate patterns. Every stone tells its own story, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about designing with it.

Why Is Golden Hill So Rare?

Golden Hill is considered rare because of its limited mining season, its naturally occurring lavender-blue color, and the fact that it is sold in its natural, untreated state. Unlike much of the turquoise used in jewelry today, Golden Hill is not stabilized, allowing you to enjoy the stone just as nature created it.

A Story That Makes Me Appreciate It Even More

One of the most interesting things I learned about Golden Hill Turquoise is how it’s mined. The deposit is only worked once a year during the dead of winter, when the river freezes. During this short window, miners use wooden cranes to carefully recover the turquoise from beneath the frozen river. Knowing how much work goes into bringing these stones to the surface makes me appreciate every piece even more.

Every time I choose a Golden Hill stone for a new design, I’m reminded that no two will ever be exactly alike. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy working with natural materials so much, each stone has its own character, and every finished piece is truly one of a kind.
